SWITZERLAND. Solothurn. Taler (Silver, 42.3 mm, 28.50 g, 3 h), no date (circa 1550-1570). ✱MONETA✱SOLODORENSIS✱ Coat of arms; eagle above. Rev. SANCTVS✱VR - S - V - S - ✱MARTIR✱ Standing St. Ursus in full armor to right, holding a lance with banner with his right and a sword with his left hand. HMZ 2-821a. Rare and darkly toned. Somewhat rough, metal flaws on edge, otherwise, very fine.

This type exists in two varieties, one with a single-headed eagle and one with a double-headed eagle. Our variety with a single-headed eagle is significantly rarer.
